Experiments on 10GB/s Fast Settling High Sensitivity Burst-Mode Receiver with On-Chip Auto-Reset for 10G-GPONs

This paper presents a 10Gb/s APD-based DCcoupled burst-mode receiver (BM-RX) with an on-chip autoreset generation and multiple data rates support, designed for 10G-GPONs. Record short 2R settling time of 75 ns (150 ns for multi-rate operation), high sensitivity of -31.3 dBm and large loud/soft ratio of 25.3 dB are demonstrated in burstmode operations at 2.5G/5G/10Gb/s.
