Expert Systems in Network Management - Panel Discussion

This panel will provide an opportunity for discussing the role of Expert Systems technology in the future of network management. I will describe briefly the evolution of the environment in which network management operations take place, and argue that Artificial Intelligence techniques will become an essential element of any operations support system for network management. I will use NEMESYS (a knowledge-based system for managing congestion in the AT&T network that has been discussed in the open literature) as an example of a successful application of Expert Systems to network management.
