Expert Systems in Network Operations and Management

This special issue is in response to a rapidly growing interest in the network operations and management community in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Expert Systems technology. This interest is evidenced by working AI and Expert Systems that have proven helpful for fault diagnosis, teating and monitoring, systems engineering, intelligent user interfaces, and network management. In addition, contributions at IEEE conferences, including ICC, GLOBECOM, INFOCOM, and NOMS, show the importance of AI and Expert Systems technology to both computer communications and to network operations and management.
