Proof in 1961 that the code for the three-dimensional structure of a protein is contained completely in its linear sequence of amino acids won Andinsen the Nobel Prize. However, 25 years later, we are still unable to predict accurately the tertiary structure of a biological molecule from knowledge of its sequence alone.
