The goal of bringing the WWW to the underserved populations of the developing world has met with numerous challenges. One major issue is the paucity of locally relevant content on the web. In this paper, we explore how community media initiatives can help in providing locally relevant content and seeding web adoption in developing regions. Our user studies with a community radio station in India reveal interesting insights on how the web and community media can benefit each other. We also present a hybrid system combining web with Community Radios and study its usefulness for web adoption in developing regions.
