Extensions of sottens broadcasting station to 100 kW
01 July 1936
The transmitter proper comprises a crystalcontrolled radio-frequency exciter unit, delivering an output of 500 W to the modulated amplifier, with a complete duplicate: an audio-frequency exciter unit including four stages of class "A" push-pull amplification, with a complete duplicate; a floating carrier unit incorporating a metal rectifier for providing the modulator grid bias and a cubicle assembly containing all the water-cooled valves and associated equipment. The main power supply for the station is derived from 8000-V, 3-phase, 50-cycle mains; the h.v. supply is derived from a 400-kW, 18,000-V, grid-controlled mercury-arc rectifier.
