Externally Sourced Intramodule Optical Interconnections for Multi-Wafer Systems.

While the importance of optical interconnections for future multi-wafer architectures is well established, it is also apparent that for any large scale implementation of optics, remotely sourced optical fabrics will be essential. Here, a multi-wafer module peripheral optical bus is proposed as a specific system function to explore generic issues related to externally sourced optical interconnection fabrics as well as those related specifically to the multi-wafer environment.
