Fault Handling In Multiprocessor Systems, Local Area and Long Haul Networks(4-12)
Multiple processors can be interconnected to form multiprocessor systems, local area networks or long haul networks. Automatic fault handling is used as a means to achieve the required reliability and/or availability levels. Fault handling methods are usually designed in these different types of multiple processor systems based on specific application needs. In this paper, we outline a general methodology for designing fault handling schemes that is applicable to multiple processor systems or networks with high availability requirements. For such systems, combine performance and reliability measures need to be considered in the design of fault handling schemes.
