FEC For Digital Cellular (NOT PUBLISHED)
The Bit Error (BER) performance of the mobile channel reduces the reliability of the data transmission to unacceptable levels. The communication in the digital cellular channel will require protection mechanisms in order to increase the transmission quality. Forward Error Correction (FEC), diversity, and equalization are under consideration to compensate for the frequency selective fading in the channel. In this paper we will analize the effects of FEC, and the improvements that can be made to it to get extra coding gain.
