Fiber Theory and Design

This short course will describe the fundamental principles governing propagation in optical fibers. Loss and dispersion transmission properties will be related to fiber parameters such as numerical aperture, cutoff wavelength, core diameter, spot-size, and refractive-index profile shapes that can include graded-index cores, central-index distortions, and depressed-index wells within the cladding.
