Fictive Phonons: A Simple Microscopic Mechanism for High- Temperature Superconductivity.
01 January 1988
Because of internal stress large vibrational amplitudes can be quenched into certain lattice vibrational modes. Such modes appear to be ``anharmonic'' in some respects (but not others) as T -> 0. I show that such condensation can generate giant electron-phonon coupling constants, and that the strength of the enhanced interaction is determined directly by the quenching temperature.
