Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs): The 3000 Series
01 January 1993
Today's complex system development efforts usually require teams of dedicated hardware, software, firmware and system engineers. Just as firmware engineers are expected to have mastered the interdisciplinary understanding of both the hardware and software worlds, FPGA designers are expected to have mastered a hardware and system interdisciplinary understanding ranging from IC design to system debugging. Today, teams that lack engineers having skill-sets which bridge these gaps will find themselves at a severe disadvantage.
