Field trial demonstration of open shared metro-access infrastructure
01 January 2020
An open access network approach allows for sharing optical layer resources like fibers and optical spectrum among different services and operators at the same time. In a field trial the feasibility of such a concept has been demonstrated. Flexible access nodes are implemented including amplification and dispersion management to generate a transparent and reconfigurable optical ring network. The optical technologies as well as measurements results of data experiments are presented. Various services having different modulation formats, multiplexing techniques and data rates are simultaneously operated over the open access network.
