First Generation Intercontinental Undersea Lightwave Systems

By the time of this meeting, AT&T will have installed over 15,500 km of undersea lightwave systems, with major participation in the Transcontinental systems, TAT-8, TPC-3/HAW-4, plus a number of smaller systems. This presentation will describe the experience gained with the installation of these first generation transcontinental undersea lightwave systems. It will focus on results obtained during the integration of the multi-supplier systems, TAT-8 and TPC-3, and commissioning and acceptance testing prior to service cut-over of systems installed to dated.
