Flex rate transmission and challenges for long haul transmission

We review flexible bitrate transponder options combining variable QAM formats with variable baudrate. We show that high spectral efficiency and high baudrate systems suffer from limited converter ENOB and high baudrate systems suffer from additional nonlinear limitations.
