Flexible Technician Tools for Circuit Testing

A wide variety of interexchange circuit tests is required to be available for exchange technician use. CCITT recommendations, national standards, and local practices provide requirements for transmission and signaling tests on interexchange circuits. Technicians need flexible, easily accessible test tools for maintenance of interexchange circuits. Changeable test specification and execution control, using test equipment integrated into the exchange, can provide the needed support. Technicians can construct tests using generalized test actions, and integrated test functions (specific signal generators, reception filters, etc.) in test specifications. Test sequences can be executed on demand, or by a routine scheduler, with test results available for immediate display, or stored for later review and analysis.
