Frame Transport in the Xunet II Network
01 January 1992
Xunet-II is an ATM-style network that transports small (48- byte) data units called cells. These cells may become corrupted during transmission, or deleted by the network. Reliable transmission of larger protocol units, herein referred to as frames, requires a protocol that is cognizant of the particular error properties of ATM-style networks. Where link-level protocols in other networks must recover from only data corruption or data deletion, but not both, this protocol must recover from both simultaneously.
