Frequency Coordination and Automatic Power Control Systems

Automatic Power Control (APC) is an innovative solution to the problem of introducing new, high-capacity into the congested embedded common-carrier band at four and six gigahertz. Over the years these bands have become increasingly crowded. Undoubtedly this crowding will continue into the foreseeable future. One result of th pressing need to conserve frequency space, has been the drive to more efficient modulation schemes, including Single Side Band and 64 QAM. However, these more efficient modulation schemes are also more fragile when subjected to interferences and this just compounds the crowding problem. Automatic Power Control is a technical solution to these problems.
