Frequency-Locking of a 1.3microns DFB Laser Using a Miniature Argon Glow Lamp.
01 January 1989
The frequency of an InGaAsP DFB laser has been locked to the 2p sub (10) - 3d sub 5 transition of Argon atoms at 1.2960microns using the optogalvanic signal obtained from a commercial miniature glow lamp. Since miniature glow lamps are small, cheap, and consume very little power, they present a practical mean for frequency-locking lasers using optogalvanic signals in lightwave systems.
