Fundamental Limits of Zero-Forcing Nonlinear Equalization in WDM Coherent Fiber-Optic Systems

We address the problem of evaluating the ultimate performance of zero-forcing nonlinear equalizers in coherent WDM fiber-optic systems, which is due to nonlinear interactions between signal and ASE noise. We report on the recent theoretical advances in understanding this issue.
