The ongoing research and development as well as the ever‐growing requirement for novel ICT technologies and services has started to change how wireless communications are perceived. Up to now, the evolution of wireless communication systems only focused on improving the way the information is exchanged between two or a group of communication entities. However, emerging user expectations for novel personalized scenarios have driven the requirement for revolutionary and divergent approaches that will foster the virtualization of human emotions, senses, and feelings.Human Bond Communication (HBC) represents a holistic approach capable of describing and transmitting the features of a subject in the way a human perceives it. The HBC approach involves all human senses for modeling a physical subject into an information‐digital domain, actuating and transmitting the given data through an underlying communication platform. This will enable for the physical subject to be understood and perceived by the HBC end‐users in the same manner as the subject is observed by the users individually.Although the HBC development is in very early stage, several distinct aspects have been already identified as the main facilitators of the HBC concept, such as:Human sensory and emotional replicationPhysical world augmentationHuman umwelt expansionThis chapter gives an insight in the ongoing research related to the concepts of Human sensory and emotional replication, Physical world augmentation and Human umwelt expansion. It also provides a link between the ongoing research activities and their application to the concept of HBC. Additionally, the chapter discusses the potentials of HBC and give a vision of possible future applications and services.
