Generalized Trunk Reservation-A Matrix Geometric Approach.

In this memorandum we develop a model of a trunk group with very general trunk reservation schemes. Our solution allows us to obtain analytical results for parcel blockings in the case when different collections of traffic streams have different levels of protection. By modifying a model developed recently in Department 55134 (now 55324), we expose the structure of the problem in a very explicit fashion, permitting the development of efficient numerical schemes. The model we develop provides us the mathematical foundation to incorporate very general service protection schemes as part of network design activities.
