Generating Case Reports for a Medical Expert System

This paper describes two different text generation systems, embodying two different approaches to the production of case reports for a medical expert system, the Stroke Consultant. One system generates fairly constrained text by assembling phrases from a data dictionary and then parsing the result to make sure that it is well-formed.
