GMPLS Adaptive level of recovery
10 June 2012
The mechanism described in this document will deal with the fluctuating nature of the failure probability in order to adapt the resources dedicated to the recovery to the observed network equipments health. Indeed, in GMPLS networks, the recovery strategy is a tradeoff between resources consumption and availability. To solve this dilemma, we propose to change the recovery schema over time, to better fit with the sensed risk of failure. For this purpose, a Risk Assessment Module (RAM), is in charge of monitoring the network health in order to provide a risk level information exploited to switch between the restoration and protection schemes of the GMPLS protocol. The consequence in term of resources consumption and availability will be then evaluated, following an analytical model, in order to check if the prefigured benefices were real.
