An analysis of the frequency-discrimination effect of a resonant circuit on a frequency-modulated wave is given. The incoming f.m. wave is assumed to be undistorted and the modulation frequency is assumed to be low enough compared with the circuit bandwidth so that the steady-state resonance curve is applicable in terms of the instantaneous frequency.
