Hidden Issues in Simulation of Fixed Wireless Systems
01 January 2001
Statistical models for individual radio links have been proposed for several different environments, but much less work has been dedicated to statistical relationships between links. These are very important in determining the performance of complete networks, and, in particular, Fixed Wireless Loop (FWL) systems, but are mostly ignored when the capacities of various FWL systems are studied through simulations, which are increasingly important in performance comparisons of such systems as they become more complex. In this paper, we introduce several common types of statistical relationships between links, analyze some of these causes and effects, and show ways to take them into account when running capacity simulations.
