High Data Rate Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding (THP) Based PAM Transmission

In this paper, we review the recent progress on Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding (THP) scheme for high-performance PAM transmission in low-cost intensity modulation/direct detection (IM/DD) systems. With structure of infinite impulse response (IIR) filter, THP is used to improve the tolerance to spectral power fading and enable faster-than-Nyquist signalling for PAM transmission.
