High energy density lithium niobium triselenide cells.

The lithium niobium triselenide electrochemical couple has been developed into a long life and high energy density rechargeable cell in a AA size can. In addition, the AA size Li/NbSe sub 3 cell can be operated over a wide temperature range, has a high discharge rate capability and a very low self discharge rate. The performance, storage and safety of the Li/NbSe sub 3 rechargeable cell are discussed.
