High T sub c Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O sub x and Tl-Ba-Ca-Cu-O sub y Superconductors Prepared by Liquid-Gas-Solidification Process
20 March 1989
We explore further the application of a novel process, liquid- gas- solidification, sup 1 for making high T sub c superconducting materials. A precursor metallic alloy, e.g. Bi sub 2 Sr sub 2 Ca sub 2 Cu sub 3 , is melted in an inert atmosphere then in situ oxidized by introducing the missing element, oxygen. The resultant oxide shows a sharp superconducting transition in resistance measurements.
