High-Temperature Superconductivity and Cryogenic Electronics
17 August 1989
The history and significance of superconductivity will be discussed, including present and anticipated applications. The BCS theory will be outlined, and the gap between it and the behavior of new materials identified. The high-temperature materials will be enumerated and discussed, as will the problems associated with their practical application. The application of cryogenics to electronics and photonics will be covered, and a demonstration will be conducted.
