Higher order PMD distortion mitigation based on optical narrow bandwidth signal filtering

We show a novel higher order polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) mitigation technique for a preamplifled system based on narrow optical bandwidth filtering of the signal. Reducing the signal bandwidth results in increased signal immunity against higher order PMD distortions. The method is theoretically explained and experimentally verified.
