Human Factoring the VIVID(r) Video Teleconferencing System
14 November 1986
VIDID(r) is a high-speed (45 Mbs), full-motion video transmission system designed for video teleconferencing. Unlike Picturephone Meeting Service(r) (PMS) and other earlier systems, conference participants configure their own multi-point conferences, choose various conferencing options, and control all room equipment without the aid of teleconferencing technicians. Since the typical conference participant is untrained and only an occasional user, the control interface must be truly 'user friendly.'. Similarly, the training must be short and simple if the product is to be widely accepted.
