Human Science and User Experience
01 March 2013
The human sciences explore life and its activities. The term "user experience" is used in a broad sense. User experience encompasses elements such as the usefulness and usability of an application or technology. Accessibility, desirability, and trustworthiness are also key factors. Together, these characteristics combine to create value or quality of experience for the end user. User experience researchers and practitioners have moved from talking about products and services that are simple, convenient, and easy to understand and learn to talking about meaningful, self relevant experiences delivered through technology. Those who provide unparalleled user experiences stand to increase revenues and satisfaction, decrease churn, reduce cost of ownership, and differentiate themselves from their competitors. Those who chose to ignore user experience risk incurring the wrath of their customers.
