Hybrid III-V/Silicon Tunable Laser Directly Modulated at 10GBit/s for Access Networks

We report on a hybrid III-V on silicon laser, fabricated by wafer-scale molecular bonding, and directly modulated at 10Gb/s for transmission over distances up to 60km. It exhibits both good bit error rate and reasonable extinction ratio, over a wavelength tunability range of 3nm.
