Impairments Induced by Binary-Phase Pump Modulation in Fiber Parametric Amplifiers

Binary-phase-shift-keyed pump modulation suppresses stimulated Brillouin scattering in fiber parametric devices. However, both one- and two-pump parametric architectures exhibit excess fiber broadening that increases as the rise and fall times of the pump-modulation decrease.
