1. INTRODUCTION: In 1986, CCITT (International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee) Study Group XVIII recommended an international standard for coding wideband speech and music (50-7000Hz) at 64 kb/s or less [1]. The algorithm uses quadrature mirror filters (QMF) to split the signal into two bands, which are each encoded using adaptive differential pulse code modulation (SB-ADPCM).
