Improvement of tolerance to nonlinearities resulting from small sequence modifications in 40 Gbit/s optical transmission

Nonlinear threshold improvement has been quantified numerically and experimentally in 40 Gbit/s NRZ transmission over SMF by changing only a few penalising bits from pseudo-random sequences. This can lead to new small-overhead coding methods.
