In-building Wireless Backhaul based on Digitized Radio-over-Fiber Technique combined with Centralized Optical Routing

We have demonstrated the selective optical routing of WiMAX compatible signal (16-QAM, 6MSps @2.475GHz) based on the digitized RoF technique. To verify the performance of the proposed system, the error-vector magnitude (EVM) of the transmitted WiMAX signal between the digitized- and analog- RoF system under nonlinear operation such as wavelength conversion has been compared; digitized RoF system shows robust performance with almost constant EVM (3.75%) while the performance of the analog RoF system varies with optical conditions.
