IN Services for Converged (Internet) Telephony
01 June 2000
(Title was originally IN Services for Computer Telephony) Given the convergence of the PSTN and networks based on IP (the Internet Protocol), it would be advantageous to transparently support access to the existing installed base of IN services from packet end-points, while simultaneously providing newer more advanced services to said end-points from within the IN infrastructure. In this paper, we describe the INSeCT (IN Services for Computer Telephony) prototype, aimed at achieving these very goals. The early sections briefly present background material on VoIP and IN, while the rest of the paper focuses on the prototype implementation.
