Increasing the Effectiveness of Statistical Computing

Most practicing statisticians today have access to good statistical software by comparison, say, to the situation twenty years ago. They can effectively explore data, apply statistical methods, and study new theoretical results. By no means, however, is there a shortage of challenges to do better: extending the range of our methodology, incorporating new application areas, and exporting statistical tools to new user populations all urgently demand attention. This talk outlines a strategy for addressing these challenges.
