Industrial television system
01 June 1950
Originally designed for boiler-water level telemetering, the "Utiliscope" has been applied to many industrial purposes. A detailed description of the complete equipment is given; it contains 15 valves, the monitor C.R.T. and the pick-up device, which is an image dissector employing a novel translucent cathode with improved contrast range. Its peak sensitivity lies at 6 000 Aring, the photo-sensitivity being ~20 muA lumen. The 11-stage secondary emission multiplier has a gain of 5times105 and requires 2 000 V, which is obtained off the line-timebase flyback. The time bases feed both the dissector and the monitor tube scanning coils.
