Infrared Analysis of Metal Chloride-Doped Poly(Vinychloride) Films
01 January 1990
The influence of metal chloride dopants (CoCl sub 2, CuCl sub 2 and FeCl sub 3) on the infrared spectrum of solution-grown thin films of poly(vinylchloride) was investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Detailed analysis and interpretation of the spectral data revealed that solvated metal chloride complexes and residual solvent (N,N-dimethylformamide) entrained in the polymer films induced the observed spectral changes.
