A ray-tracing program is developed for light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with integral lenses that calculates the total coupled power into a FT3 fiber. Calculations are performed for three wafer thicknesses (100micron, 150micron and 200micron) and various parameters, such as the radius of the lenses, the lens-fiber distance, the lateral displacement y(o) of the fiber, the lateral displacement of the active area, and fiber tilt.
