Interference Aware Routing in Multi-Radio Wireless Mesh Networks
01 January 2006
We address the problem of interference aware routing in multi-radio infrastructure mesh networks wherein each node is equipped with multiple radio interfaces and a subset of nodes serve as Internet gateways. We present a new interference aware routing metric that aids in finding paths that are better in terms of reducing both inter-flow and intra-flow interference. We describe a new hybrid routing protocol that incorporates this metric and supports enhanced table-based packet forwarding. Our routing protocol finds multiple paths in the gateway nodes using source routing and provides class-based QoS to clients connecting to the routers. We study the performance of our new routing metric by implementing it in our wireless test bed.
