ISDN Compatibility with Business and Residence Custom Services

A great deal has been published in the telecommunications literature about ISDN, but little of this has focused on the way that existing business and residence custom services will operate in an ISDN environment. This paper discusses Call Forwarding, Automatic Call Back Calling, Distinctive Ringing, and Call Pickup. This paper describes what the ISDN end-user will experience when subscribing to AT&T 5ESS TM Switch features. Signaling, feature interaction, and design considerations are also discussed where appropriate. With ISDN, many of these services will have additional capabilities and improve feature operation designed to enhance the productivity of the information worker.
