Italian state toll cable system
14 April 1931
The year 1930 saw the completion of the main portion of the great national long-distance cable project initiated in 1926, giving Italy a system of underground cables extending from Naples via Rome, Florence and Bologna to Milan, Turin and Genoa and ( via Chiasso) to the rest of Europe. In a year the final section will be completed and communication established with Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and the rest of Eastern Europe by means of the cable from Udine to Tarvisio. The author gives the traffic results on the various trunk circuits, a map showing the route of the cable, results of transmission tests and photographs and detailed descriptions of the repeater equipment.
