01 January 1987
Japanese manufacturing methods are a popular topic among American managers. The Just In Time Manufacture/Total Quality Control video shows an implementation of the much praised Just In Time and Total Quality Control method in AT&T Denver Works' System 75 Power Shop. WHile no proprietary information is disclosed, the manufacturing philosophy and operating practices required for a successful JIT/TQC implementation are described. The improvements in manufacturing, as measured by product velocity, WIP reduction, small lot sizes, and improved product quality, demonstrate that AT&T achieved the performance published by Japanese manufactures.
