Large-Scale Dissemination of XML Data
01 January 2002
With the pervasive deployment of the Internet, many applications are evolving from monolithic or simple client-server architectures to distributed or networked applications. Systems based on data dissemination, where specific data it relayed to a large number (million) of widely dispersed consumers, are getting increasingly popular with the exponentially growing amount of data made available ubiquitously on the Internet, such as stock quotations, news reports, advertisements, auctions, etc. This trend led to the emergence of novel middleware architectures that asynchronously propagate information from its source to potentially large sets of consumers.
