Large Scale Radial and Latitudinal Characteristics of Interplanetary Shocks and Shock Accelerated Ions

Shock accelerated ions 0.03 ` E ` 3 MeV have been observed between 1 and 30 AU and -5C to `30C heliographic latitude by the Low Energy Charged Particles Experiment on Voyagers 1 and 2. The flux of shock accelerated ions shows a radial decrease `R sup -1 inside 5 AU and a very slow decrease beyond Jupiter.
