Lattice Polarization Effects on Charge Modulation in Perovskite Titanate Superlattices

Electronic structure calculations have been performed to analyze experimental results on the charge distribution introduced by LaTiO3 monolayers in SrTiO3. Anharmonic finite-temperature effects on ionic polarization are identified as a key determinant of these results, and a simple model capable of representing such effects is introduced.
